Advisory Service to Candidates

Advisory Service to Candidates on the Guidelines on Election-related Activities in respect of the Chief Executive Elections
(paragraph 1.16 of the Guidelines)

Who are eligible to use the service
A candidate who has publicly declared his intention to stand for election (whether or not he has submitted a nomination form) and his election agent.

How to apply for the service
An enquiry should:
  • be made in writing, either in Chinese or English;
    bear the name, identity document number and means of contact of the person making the enquiry; and
  • be submitted to the Electoral Affairs Commission by post at 10th Floor, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong; by fax at 2511 1682; or by email at eacenq@eac.hk.
Things to note
  • Enquiries must be related to the interpretation or operation of the Guidelines (other than those covered by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, which should be lodged with it direct);
  • As far as practicable, all enquiries will be answered within three working days;
  • A reply to a question will be made in the medium (i.e. either Chinese or English) as that of the enquiry; and
  • The question and answer may be publicised (the identity of the person making the enquiry will not be disclosed).
Service period

The advisory service will be provided until the end of the ordinary business hours before the polling day, or the close of nomination in the case of an uncontested election.
